How it began

From home kitchen to Hyderabad store

The idea of Nastro Blu came in 2021–22 when we started making conscious choices about the food we ate and the way we lived. We began exploring traditional food practices, naturally grown produce, indigenous grains and better-quality ingredients. We made our own desi cow ghee using the traditional Bilona method and began going beyond labels — doing our due diligence, visiting farms and understanding where our food truly came from.

As we learnt more, we also saw how modern foods were increasingly being made with shortcuts and compromises. We believed there had to be a better way.

What began as a small journey from home slowly grew into a larger purpose — to bring back better ingredients, traditional wisdom and honest preparation to everyday food.

On 5th September 2025, that vision took its next step with the opening of our first Nastro Blu store.

Today, Nastro Blu is our continued journey towards making better food choices more accessible — through naturally grown products, indigenous grains, traditional ingredients and food made with greater care.

At Nastro Blu, we believe that good health begins with honest food.

Our journey started with a simple question: Why has food become so complicated? As artificial additives, refined ingredients, and highly processed foods became commonplace, we chose a different path — one rooted in tradition, transparency, and respect for nature.

We work closely with farmers to source naturally grown produce and prioritize indigenous (native) seed varieties that have nourished generations. Our aim is to preserve traditional food wisdom while bringing wholesome ingredients to today’s families.

Every product at Nastro Blu reflects this commitment. Our sweets are prepared using desi cow milk, jaggery & desi khand wherever possible. Our snacks are fried in freshly extracted cold-pressed oils. We consciously avoid artificial colours, artificial essence, preservatives, and silver leaf because we believe food should be enjoyed in its most natural form.

Our shelves bring together carefully selected grains, flours, cold-pressed oils, spices, dry fruits, honey, pickles, teas, squashes, and handcrafted sweets and snacks — all chosen with quality, authenticity, and integrity in mind.

More than a store, Nastro Blu is a movement to reconnect people with real food. We strive to educate consumers about indigenous grains, traditional ingredients, responsible sourcing, and mindful eating so that every purchase becomes an informed choice.

At Nastro Blu we believe that these seeds retain higher nutritional profiles and traditional flavors that have been lost in mass-produced commercial crops.

Direct farmer connections

It is important to know where our food comes from and how it is cultivated. We work towards sourcing from farmers who follow practices closer to nature.

Generations of experience hold valuable knowledge about food, farming and preparation. We strive to preserve and bring this wisdom into how we choose and make our products.

Due diligence

We make the effort to understand the journey of our products — from the source and farming practices to the ingredients and methods used in their preparation.

We strive to maximise indigenous grains and traditional ingredients, while avoiding artificial colours, essences, preservatives and silver leaf. We use desi cow milk and desi cow ghee (on customisation) because honest food begins with honest ingredients.
